Back into the archive for this one. Shot on my old 6×6 Rolleiflex on the Droitwich canal when it was all silted up with reed beds. The image was licensed to a Dutch greetings card company several years ago so it may still be out there in then real world, or more likely gathering dust in the returns section of a warehouse somewhere…⠀

'willow triptych' has been shortlisted for the @revolvcollective One Year exhibition. The bulk of the willow oversized trunks reflect in flood water and these gnarly shapes were the inspiration for the pictures. By flipping the images upside down, the reflections become the trees and the ‘leaves’ are in fact plants growing in the flooded field at the base of the trunks. The images were taken on an iPhone and printed on Impossible instant film.⠀

The architecture of the house plays an important part in giving our memories meaning and context. The home is where we make plans for our lives – the memories form blueprints in our minds of our experiences and the places we have lived.⠀

Photographs become the memories of events, and those memories construct the stories of our lives and histories. The home is often the backdrop to important events and thus it becomes the background of the photograph. The photograph gives the memory context showing not just the ‘what’ but also the ‘where’.⠀
