A video piece created for the ArtCan exhibition ‘Amplify’ shown at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, Wellington, NZ, 6–18 June 2023.
It shows a series of ‘fly-bys’ over prints of close-up photographs of the abstract patterns made by soaking Polaroid instant film in corrosive solutions. Colour is introduced into the broken emulsion layer of the film by injecting it with ink to highlight the textures and bubbles formed. The resulting images can be purely abstract or become landscape-like in appearance.
